AN EVENING AT SAVIDAN
By Ann Parenti
It was another delightful turnout for the new exhibit at Savidan Gallery in downtown Las Vegas on Saturday night, May 21st. Quentin Abramo, the owner of Faciliteq, where the gallery is located, does a fantastic job with his gallery coordinator Louise Kershner Rogers. The gallery is currently featuring the art of Erik Beehn, an artist and educator working out of Las Vegas. Beehn has an MFA from the School of The Art Institute of Chicago and is currently adjunct faculty at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Erik’s work consists of painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. Beehn is the founder and director of Test Site Projects, a fine art publishing house and project space in Las Vegas. The evening was filled with fun surprises when I found out some dear friends were visiting from New Orleans and got a chance to pop into the gallery to see the exhibit. Noel Williams and Frank Lewis, who used to have a cool mid-century modern home here in Las Vegas, packed up and moved to New Orleans a few years ago. It was such a joy to catch up on what has been going on in the design world on the other coastline and learn how many people are continuing to work remotely from their homes.

Then Evan Davis and his beautiful wife, Sandy, showed up, and we got a chance to catch up, too. They were in the midst of moving but will be staying here in Las Vegas in some new digs, too!
