Local Italian Gem:

D’Agostino’s Trattoria’s Renovation, Expansion and Heart

By Elaine & Scott Harris

Local favorite D’Agostino’s Trattoria has been family-owned and -run since it first opened. The restaurant is more than a place to eat; it’s a gathering place, headed by husband-and-wife chef team Dan and Brandi Thompson. When their restaurant grew beyond expectations, the family faced a turning point: a brief closure for renovation that would honor the past while embracing the future.

The decision to close was not taken lightly. Yet the owners understood that to continue serving the same soul-satisfying meals, while also inviting new guests, the dining room needed space to breathe and a modern touch that wouldn’t erase its essence. With careful planning and a deep respect for tradition, they reopened after a short hiatus, unveiling a refreshed interior that still hummed with the warmth of home.

Walking in for a who’s-who VIP list at the reopening celebration, we saw right away that the renovation was more than cosmetic. The kitchen was reimagined to improve flow, ensuring that the same hands that stirred the marinara could do so with greater precision and care.

An expanded dining area now creates a comfortable rhythm of tables where families can gather without feeling crowded. The centerpiece of the transformation, however, is the new cocktail bar and lounge, an addition that feels both contemporary and intimately connected to the restaurant’s Italian roots.

The cocktail bar celebrates bright, creative drinks that accent flavors from the menu. The lounge area, with its warm lighting and leather seating, invites guests to linger beyond dessert, enjoying conversation and exemplary service.

Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley presented a proclamation: “D’Agostino’s is one of my favorite places. I can get whatever I want, from large steaks and seafood to, of course, pasta. No matter what I order, it’s always fabulous! The new renovation is gorgeous.”

The mayor was followed by an emotional Dan Thompson: “If you are here tonight, you are family — extended family. From my family to all of you, thank you. If you are new, then welcome!”
