Prepare to relive the excitement once again as the Vintage Vegas Home Tour, presented by the Nevada Preservation Foundation, proved to be an absolute delight this year! This esteemed heritage tourism festival isn’t just an ordinary event; it’s a grand celebration of Southern Nevada’s illustrious history and architectural marvels that left attendees thoroughly captivated. From enriching educational workshops to engaging heritage programming, the foundation orchestrated a series of events that not only entertained but also educated and inspired.
One cannot overlook the highlight of the tour – the magnificent homes on display, each a testament to the elegance and allure of Las Vegas’ bygone eras. With every step, visitors were transported through time, gaining a newfound appreciation for the city’s rich cultural heritage and architectural legacy.
Whether you’re a history aficionado, an architecture enthusiast, or simply seeking a delightful experience, the Vintage Vegas Home Tour offers something truly special for everyone. It’s a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the charm and nostalgia of Las Vegas’ past while celebrating its vibrant present.
Every year, the Nevada Preservation Foundation treats us to a delightful array of homes to explore, and let me tell you, this year was no exception! With ten remarkable homes on display, we were treated to a journey through the decades, each one offering a unique glimpse into the past while showcasing options for contemporary living.
Consider, for example, the enchanting “Glass Butterfly” – an exquisite 1960s Palmer and Krisel designed Model 7B home nestled in the picturesque Paradise Palms. Renowned architectural virtuoso Mark Adams lent his expertise to meticulously update this architectural gem, ensuring its timeless elegance remains intact. Then there’s the captivating “Artful Oasis” in John S. Park, a true testament to the swinging sixties’ spirit, where visionary architects seamlessly blended indoor and outdoor spaces, embracing the quintessential California mid-century design aesthetic.
But let me share with you the one that truly stole my heart – “That 1970s Salon & Menagerie.” From the moment I set eyes on it, I was whisked away to the funky, vibrant vibes of the ’70s. It’s a sanctuary brimming with peace, love, and happiness, where every nook and cranny exudes retro charm and nostalgia, creating an unforgettable experience.

Step into this 1972 Western-style ranch house and prepare to embark on a journey into a world of groovy vibes and retro bliss! Upon crossing the threshold, you’re immediately enveloped in an atmosphere of tranquility, comfort and joy that permeates every inch of the home. The air is filled with the scent of apples, cinnamon and cloves, while colorful flowers adorn every surface, adding to the home’s irresistible charm.
What truly sets this place apart is Tayla Hart’s unwavering commitment to all things vintage. She’s made a conscious choice to forgo anything new, opting instead to fill her home with treasures from decades past. And if vintage isn’t available, she adds her own unique touch, handcrafting materials to maintain that authentic retro feel, as evident in the exquisite tilework that graces the home.

Take a leisurely stroll through the house, and you’ll find yourself transported to a bygone era of nostalgia and whimsy. The game room is a delightful throwback, featuring an array of period games, magazines, and toys that evoke fond memories of childhood. The lounge areas, perfect for entertaining guests, boast cozy seating and funky decor that’s sure to impress. And let’s not forget about the custom dog door – adorned with whimsical mushrooms, it’s a playful touch that adds to the home’s charm. Macramé owls, paint by numbers and needlepoint paintings, Yellow Flower corning ware, light fixtures and lamps, THE BEST veloured furniture, and Magnavox stereo consoles are absolutely sublime and perfectly curated.

But the hippie-dippie goodness doesn’t end there – oh no! Venture outside into the backyard, and you’ll discover a veritable paradise waiting to be explored. A sprawling, fabulous pool, nestled amidst towering palm trees, serves as the centerpiece of a 1970s-inspired farm. Here, a miniature zebu, goats, an emu, chickens, bunnies and pot-bellied pigs roam freely, adding to the whimsical ambiance of the surroundings. It’s a true testament to the Tayla’s Mother Earth ethos, and simply being there fills you with a profound sense of joy and contentment.
