Jean Pioso
A Visionary Designer, Artist, Medical Social Worker, Entrepreneur and Community Leader
By David Tupaz
As founder and creative director of Jean Amour, Jean Pioso has become known for elegant designs that blend timeless style with artistic expression. Her designs have appeared on runways across the United States, including New York Fashion Week and Los Angeles Fashion Week, as well as showcases in San Diego, Texas, Washington, Florida and Hawaii. Internationally, her collections have been presented in Manila and at Paris Fashion Week. They have been featured in international publications and at events such as the Oscars, Golden Globe Awards, the Cannes Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival.

Pioso also founded the Mahal Kita brand, a lifestyle label inspired by love, elegance and cultural appreciation, and established the Mahal Kita Global Foundation, which supports underprivileged children in the Philippines and homeless veterans in San Diego. Most recently, she launched Mahal Kita Footwear, an eco-friendly line made in the Philippines. She also created the Jean Amour Minaudière Clutch collection, a line of handcrafted mother-of-pearl clutch bags, and owns a jewelry line.

Among those who have worn her work are Grammy Award-winning singer Carrie Underwood, actress Christine Quinn, Miss Universe winners R'Bonney Gabriel and Beatrice "Bea" Millan-Windorski, Miss Grand International winner Christine Juliane "CJ" Opiaza, and a range of international models, journalists and Filipino American artists.

Before entering the fashion industry professionally, Pioso developed a passion for painting and fine arts. That artistic foundation continues to inspire her collections for Jean Amour and Mahal Kita, particularly through her use of color, texture, composition and storytelling.

Pioso began her entrepreneurial journey in San Diego before expanding her fashion and luxury brands to Los Angeles and later Las Vegas. She earned two master's degrees from the University of Southern California and serves as a counselor and military ombudsman, providing support, advocacy and resources to military personnel and their families. Her passion for helping others is also reflected in her work as a medical social worker, where she is dedicated to supporting individuals and families and creating positive change within the community.
Together, these pursuits reflect the creativity, entrepreneurship and spirit of service that have shaped Pioso's career.
