PARTICLE INK: SPEED OF DARK IS META
The in-demand immersive production final extension through December 4th
By Stacey Gualandi
A month ago, I ventured out to an abandoned warehouse in downtown Las Vegas which contains a portal that, when entered, takes you on a journey to the 2.5th dimension, where I soon found myself in the Metaverse, surrounded by talking puppets and a Moonbow.
What the…?
Well, Particle Ink: Speed of Dark gets that a lot.
It’s taken me this long to process exactly what an incredibly unique, otherworldly immersive experience it is. One thing I know for sure—I have never encountered an art production this trippy, spooky, and mesmerizing as this one.
Located at The Lighthouse in the Las Vegas Arts District, Particle Ink masterfully combines live performances, street art, projection mapping, and augmented reality into one crazy cosmic confluence of coolness.
During the hour-long attraction, “Moonbow,” an animated image made from natural light, guides you through the dark into multiple interactive areas. It makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a real, life-size graphic novel.
This Metaverse, as it’s referred to, “blends the virtual world into the physical world through mixed-reality and innovative technologies.” I learned that firsthand when I got to “tag” a wall using a paint can that sprays light. I still haven’t figured out how.

Speed of Dark was created by local artists and producers from the popular Sleep No More show in NYC. It has a cross-section of media and entertainment-industry influencers raving about its inventiveness. Majestic Repertory Theatre founder Troy Heard even declared, “It’s the best thing in Las Vegas right now.”
In fact, it is a shining example of the “experiential entertainment culture” that has emerged and become a fixture on and off the Strip.
Now I understand fully why locals and visitors alike have been so enthusiastically drawn (often more than once!) to this fantastical show since it debuted in April. It’s unlike anything you’ve witnessed before.
“What we launched as a 12-week limited engagement was extended three times, and we could not be prouder of what this team has been able to accomplish,” said Jennifer Tuft, co-chief executive officer of technology company Kaleidoco.
“The full embrace we received from the local community was warmer than we could have ever imagined, and we are looking forward to making exciting announcements about our next steps in the very near future.”
In the meantime, don’t miss “Lightmare,” the All Hallows Eve celebration under the waning crescent moon on Monday, October 31st. “Every magickal creature and light alchemist” is summoned to see the show and be treated to mind-bending moonbows within the LightHouse while sipping intoxicating elixirs at an open bar, vibing to DJs, and enjoying special pop-up performances throughout the night.”
Time is running out before the portal officially closes on December 4th, so if you want to be transported to another dimension, this is your last chance to go full meta.
