THE TEA TERRACE

A UNIQUE TEA ROOM EXPERIENCE IN LAS VEGAS

By Elaine & Scott Harris

The Downtown Abbey television series returning to Netflix with all those scenes of afternoon tea served to the elegantly dressed Crawley women inspired me to investigate the Tea Terrace in Southwest Las Vegas. It is there you will find the British tradition of afternoon tea, complete with quaint bone China teacups, a grand assortment of dainties, and delicious teas to choose from in a setting fit for any English noble person.

That tradition became fashionable through Anna, the seventh Duchess of Bedford, who made sipping on hot tea while snacking on a scone a social event that spread throughout the kingdom. We do not have to go to merry old England for a spot of tea and crumpets but to the 215 and Rainbow location of the Tea Terrace in Las Vegas. Reminiscent of an adult-sized dollhouse with comfortable cushioned chairs, decorative fabric-covered tables, and a multitude of floral prints that adorn every square inch of this quaint cottage-like space.

As you enter a hat rack with flouncy hats, feathery boas, and lacey fans, and petite purses are the perfect props to share and wear during your tea party time for those all-important selfie moments. If you upload your photo to their Instagram account #teatimeVegas, a 10% discount will be seen on your bill! The lovely hats are available for purchase as a souvenir. The Tea Terrace appeals to royal obsessed fans and those looking for a unique place to host a wedding or baby shower, a child’s birthday, or a business event.

The Tea Terrace

The Tea Terrace is the inspiration of owner Inga Parunyan who saw the idea in California and wanted to bring it to Las Vegas. Opening during the pandemic has presented challenges, but overall, the unique tea room concept has garnered a following. “There is no other place like this in Las Vegas,” said Parunyan. “There are several restaurants in Las Vegas that may offer a few hours for high tea, but I wanted an authentic tea cafe.”

An extensive menu of finger foods and a plethora of fragrant and unusual teas are available for the tea-versed or the novice. The King and Queen Teas are a must for the traditional experience, complete with a 3-tiered cake stand filled with finger sandwiches, petite desserts, and seasonal fruits. The freshly brewed tea of your choice is the perfect accompaniment to this high tea extravaganza. Put on the hat, drape a feather boa, and sip in solidarity to all that is tea-rrific!
