Cologne, Germany - A Time to Remember<\/h1>\n

An exciting and eclectic mix of old and new, Cologne sustains its Roman heritage with its city\u2019s layout and ancient ruins scattered throughout the town. Cologne\u2019s modern plazas and Hohe Strasse, a pedestrian-only shopping area, offer shops, restaurants, and famous cologne boutiques.<\/p>\n

The city\u2019s 14th-century Cathedral is a stunning example of Gothic artistry and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spared by the Allied bombs during World War II, the Cathedral\u2019s imposing twin spires can be seen for miles. The colorful stained glass windows fill the interior with glorious colored light, and its 509 steps lead up to a 312-foot platform with a breathtaking view.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Curtis and I spent the chilly and windy day touring the city with a well-informed guide to see the Cathedral before having lunch in a warm and inviting caf\u00e9 and walking along the shops for the remaining stay. I couldn\u2019t resist the temptation to purchase the one-and-only No.4711 eau de cologne. I chose the magnolia fragrance; the other I picked was Acqua Colonia with a hint of peony and sandalwood. Both are light and elegant.<\/p>\n

Our day in Cologne ended on a \u201csweet note.\u201d Tomorrow, we\u2019ll head onto our next adventure, the historic city of Koblenz. Stay tuned!<\/p>\n<\/div>
