Greg O\u2019Connor\u2019s Newest Single: \"Through Your Eyes\"<\/h1>\n

Greg O\u2019Connor, a prolific artist and Emmy winner, has composed scores for more than 30 television series and written more than 1,000 featured songs for TV, films and commercials. After four Primetime Emmy nominations, he won the coveted award for the song \u201cA Wonderful Normal Day\u201d for \"Mad TV,\" where he served as composer and songwriter for all 14 seasons.<\/p>\n

O\u2019Connor\u2019s other accolades include composing a song with lyricist Jordan Firstman for the Film Independent Spirit Awards in February 2020. The song went viral in less than 48 hours, garnering more than 7 million views, and was featured in major publications and news outlets. The tribute to Laura Dern at the end of the song was such a hit that she posted about it on her Instagram account. James Corden even tweeted, \u201cThis is the best part of any award show you\u2019ll see this year. Sensational!\u201d<\/p>\n

For the legendary band Chicago, on their latest BMG album with founding member James Pankow, O\u2019Connor wrote and produced two songs: \u201cSomeone Needed Me the Most\u201d and \u201cFirecracker.\u201d Pankow and O\u2019Connor also wrote two Billboard Adult Contemporary Top 20 songs for Chicago: \u201cThe Only One\u201d and \u201cShow Me a Sign,\u201d as well as \u201cHere With Me (A Candle For the Dark)\" for the album \"Stone of Sisyphus.\" O\u2019Connor also produced songs for Barry Manilow\u2019s album \"The Greatest Songs of the Eighties,\" as well as Manilow\u2019s hit Christmas single \u201cChristmas Is Just Around the Corner.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>

Although O\u2019Connor has scored big in the world of composing and songwriting for the last 35 years, he has never released his own personal music. Last fall, he finally released his first album, \"The Place I\u2019ve Never Been,\" which he dubbed his \u201cpersonal passion project.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe impetus for this album started because I had gone through a lot of personal changes over the last couple of years since COVID,\u201d he said. \u201cI've done a lot of work for hire through my three-decade career working on film and TV projects.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis time, I had no financial agenda, no gatekeepers and nothing pushing me along. I had to be self-motivated, which is a lot harder than you think.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>

Finally stepping into the spotlight with this solo album, O\u2019Connor produced, composed and wrote lyrics for 10 original songs that explore relationships, including: \u201cI Got You,\u201d \u201cThe Place I\u2019ve Never Been,\u201d \u201cBad Luck Love\u201d and \u201cGhosted.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the same time, another major change in O\u2019Connor\u2019s life fueled his inspiration: falling in love with Kevin Sikorski, an esteemed photographer and videographer based in Los Angeles. Together, they pooled their creative resources to produce music videos that highlight the new music.<\/p>\n

On May 23, 2025, O\u2019Connor released his newest single, \u201cThrough Your Eyes,\u201d as a special wedding surprise for his husband. The song was first heard publicly on May 18, when the couple was married at the Blithewold Mansion in Bristol, Rhode Island. O\u2019Connor gave a stellar performance of the song to his astounded groom and guests at the reception.<\/p>\n<\/div>

He explained the inspiration behind the song: \u201cWe were on a nice little getaway, and one of the places we visited was the Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford, Connecticut, where there were beautiful gardens Kevin knew. I was attempting to take a photo of the estate and surrounding gardens when Kevin quickly repositioned my hands to get a better angle of the shot. I thought to myself, \u2018If I could see the world through your eyes.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Sikorski then took a film camera version of that photo, which became the cover art for the single. The whole concept was using photographic imagery to express the idea of seeing things from your partner's point of view.<\/p>\n

As O\u2019Connor reminds us, \u201cI think that the world could use more empathy and understanding.\u201d<\/p>\n

The song goes beyond the theme of romantic relationships and applies to all personal relationships\u2014business, friendships, family\u2014any situation where people might have disagreements. \u201cI think technology has made it difficult for people to communicate properly and feel connected,\u201d he said. \u201cThe song speaks about the many different angles of love.\u201d<\/p>\n
