Via Brasil Steakhouse and The Salvation Army Team Up for Backpack Drive
By Scott Harris
Anna Gomes, longtime owner of Via Brasil Steakhouse and Loaded Empanadas, is well known not only for her successful restaurants but also for her ongoing support of local charities.
“I have long wanted to work with The Salvation Army,” she said. “After talking with them, I knew we had to put something together to help children here in Las Vegas.”
This month, Via Brasil Steakhouse is collecting backpacks and school supplies to help local students begin the upcoming school year with confidence and the tools they need to succeed. The goal is to collect 2,000 backpacks by July 20.

Guests can support the drive by donating a backpack filled with school supplies at the restaurant. As a thank-you, donors will receive 10% off a Rodizio dinner, which includes a selection of meats, featuring picanha, prime rib, lamb chops and garlic steak, plus fresh seafood options.
The Salvation Army will collect the donated backpacks and repack them for a giveaway event (typically held in early August) so each child receives a consistent set of supplies. At the same time, children and families will also be able to enjoy food stations featuring healthy snacks and fresh fruit.
“I want them to feel good and happy,” Gomes said with a smile.

The Salvation Army is known for helping children and families in need by providing practical support and tools for success. The partnership between Gomes, Via Brasil Steakhouse and the organization reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the Las Vegas community.
