Welcome to The Happy Hours

Las Vegas local Heather McHardy felt there wasn’t a place for people her age to go out, dance, enjoy the music and have fun without the usual nightclub chaos. So she created one herself. McHardy is the founder of The Happy Hours, a monthly event launched in 2025 that’s built around throwback hits, earlier hours (7 to 11 p.m.) and a more relaxed nightlife atmosphere.

A Quick Getaway to Columbus, Georgia

Beyond Atlanta, I hadn’t explored much of Georgia. On a recent trip, I traveled to Columbus for a couple of days and brought my husband along. We flew into Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport from Las Vegas and made the roughly 90-minute drive south. Once we left the city behind, I-85 to I-185 opened into long stretches of greenery.

The Art of Mixology

In Las Vegas, where over-the-top shows and giant drinks often steal the spotlight, Daniel Ponsky is quietly doing something far more enduring: teaching people to truly understand what's in their glass. As the resident mixologist at The Cabinet of Curiosities at Horseshoe Las Vegas, Ponsky reshapes how guests think about flavor, balance and creativity. He does it one drink at a time.

A new year brings change, and with it, we welcome the first edition of 2026. The start of a new chapter always invites reflection as we think about what we're starting, what we're letting go of and what we're carrying forward. New beginnings rarely arrive with fireworks. More often, they show up in small decisions, consistent work and the choice to keep going when the future isn't completely clear.

Newlywed Escape: Falling for Naples’ Luxury and Coastal Charm

Traveling more was something I added to my bucket list for 2025, and getting married was on there too; both came true. When my husband, then fiancé, set our wedding date, the first thing we started dreaming about was where we'd go for our honeymoon. We tossed around ideas — Disneyland for childlike wonder, New York for its city lights and Cancun for its beaches — but Naples, Florida, quietly stole our hearts.

As the season of giving approaches, we're reminded of what a community can achieve when people come together and how even small acts of kindness matter. In this edition of Chic Compass, we celebrate the people and organizations whose generosity (often shown in the quiet, steady ways they give their time, energy and care) and sense of purpose inspire others most during this time of year.
